Hi All! Hope everyone is enjoying a safe and sane Memorial Holiday Weekend! Thought I would post a few more pics from my trip to Luxembourg. It seems that every little village in Europe has their 'quaint' little church, and this is the one in Leudelange, where Jocelyn, Patrice and the kids live. I didn't go inside, but I am sure that it is very beautiful and ornate, as they always seem to be. The next picture is the front of the old City Hall. Jocelyn might have to correct me on that, but hope that's correct. I don't normally take pics of the city hall's but this is actually the front of Alienor's school. The next picture shows that back of this building, and the entrance to Alienor's school. And what do you know, that is Alienor all bundled up in her pretty blue winter togs. If you look real closely, you can see the snow flakes falling. It was a beautiful, cold, crisp night for a walk around the town. I loved the crunch of my boots in the snow, and the way your breath shows in the air. So invigorating and makes you feel alive. It was wonderful! Oh, how I miss the winter weather! Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for all the birthday wishes. I had a great day and it was made that much better knowing that you were all thinking about me. One birthday note. I just have to say I have the best children. Talk about unselfish. Abby and Spencer each emptied their banks and gave me all the money they had and told me to go buy plants for my birthday. They know I am loving my garden these days and they wanted to make me happy. This was definitley an example of the thought counting more than the gift. Wow! I am one lucky lady.

Hi All! Well, when I had the episode with the hummingbird, I downloaded some other pics from my camera and thought I would share them. As you can tell, these first pics are of Alienor's baptism while I was in Luxembourg. Sorry to say, I must have had some really weird setting on the camera or it was soooo cold outside that the camera was all fogged up when I took these pics. The frosty appearance sort of makes Alienor look like an angel, which she was on this, her baptism day. The strange thing that's just all blue, was the baptismal font. I have to admit I was so naive, that I had never thought of a 'portable-type' font - sort of like an 'above-the-ground pool' Was very wonderful for me to experience this very special baptism of my first grandchild!

Hi Everyone! Just wanted you to see how the flowers Andy gave me for Mother's Day faired. The end of the story
We got home from Scout o Rama about 2pm so we could go to Jo's baptism at 4 pm
we got changed and ready to leave by 3:15. As we were getting into the car we noticed that Jo and the singles ward mission leader Dave were having an animated conversation. By the way, let me introduce the characters. Next door neighbor Stan,
current live in nephew jo, prior live in nephew Sylvester and Jo and Sylvesters Mom don't recall her name. Anyway seems that mom and Sylvester had left their home in Long Beach at 9 am by bus and had made it to the k-mart on Estrella by 1:30 pm bus travel is slow. They were supposed to get to the bus stop next to St. Margrets school by 3 pm and go to jo's baptism to be held at 4 pm. Jo an Dave went to the bus stop at 3:20 no one was there so they returned as we were pulling out. We made to the stop across from the Virgins and Marie said Ed lets go back and see if we can help. So we turned around and went back. Do you need help? we asked. yes! can you wait here for mom and Sylvester? Yes we can. They took off to the baptism and we waited by 3:40 I said we have to go . We went about to the end of the park and here came mom and Sylvester. I rolled down the window and asked if they would like a ride to a baptism. They hopped in and off we went. It would have been so sad if mom and Sylvestor had missed jo's baptism after being on a bus for over 6 hours. Your mom Marie's halo was really shinning that evening. It was the best day we had had for a long time becauses we were of service to others

the days take was about $30 but the best part she got ride of a third of the stuff and the rest will go to choc hospital thrift store. Best of all she gets her patio back!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yea. NOw if we can just get to work on the GARAGE.......DUM DEE DUM DUM

BARÇA, BARÇA, BAAARRRRÇA!!!
Not that most of you will care but I just wanted to let you all know that
BARÇA won the European Cup last night. It was an interesting game and there were about
5 minutes when I thought I was going to have to deal with a whinny, mad husband, but luckily
BARÇA got it´s groove on and in the last 15 minutes scored 2 goals. After the game I had a
good time talking to Jeff who had also watched the game. Love you all. GO BARÇA!!

Ninahs rolls looked so good that I was inspired. I stayed up last night to have them today for "we two lonly mothers" (Cassy & me). Ed ate a few too. We do miss all of our kids on this mothers day. But you are all loved and appreciated for your kind thoughts and rememberances. Hopefully all of our daughter-in-laws and daughters received the kind of treatment that queens and priestesses deserve. Hey just thought I´d say hi if dad looks at the blogg. It´s 2:19 am here is Spain and I´m at work. We have the Formula 1 race here in Catalunya this weekend so we´re busy busy busy. Hope to get some kind of sleep before I have to go to church and entertain 35 little kids (in primary)!! Love you all. Mom and dad, I´ll try to call tomorrow. Or I guess I should say today...at least for me!

Hi Everyone - This is Grandma Cass, Grandma Tata and Aunt Cassy (whichever works for you) - This is my first effort at this blog thing, so you might have to bear with me a tad! Well, since Andy and Ninha left, I have found it difficult getting out to work in the yard, and as you can see by these pictures, it has been quite a while and the weed growth has begun to take over everything! It's been soooo bad, that I've had to keep my trash cans out in front, which is such a no-no in the neighborhood. I'm getting the reputation of being the 'white trash' and so, had to get out and start to get a handle on the weeds. All the while I was whacking and mowing, there was this loud 'buzzing sound' every so often. It really scared me at first, because it was quite a loud 'buzzing sound', and I am not too good with bumble bees, but then, I noticed this little hummingbird buzzzing around me. Finally, it stopped and I didn't think about it anymore. I got the tall weeds whacked and then, got the lawn mowed, and started trimming those large bushes on the right. They had really long shoots coming out and I would cut them off and lay them on the ground by the trash can. Then pick up each branch and snip it into pieces small enough to put in the trash can. As I was doing that, I actually heard this little squeaky chirp and looked down at the branch, and there in the branch was a little hummingbird nest with one tiny little bird clawing on for dear life. I screamed and my neighbor, Tina came running to see what all the commotion was about. We just stared in awe at the little creature and together, we said a little prayer to Heavenly Father that the little bird would be safe and that the mommy would come back and take care of it. I took the branch and placed it back up in the shrub, hoping that the mommy would see it there and come back to feed the baby. So, then, I kept on with my chore of snipping the branches to put in the trash can. I finally got down to the ground and looked down, and let out another scream. Again, Tina came running and found me with another little hummingbird down on the ground. I don't even know how I was able to see the little thing because of all the colors and grass stuff on the ground. I had on a pair of leather gloves and was able to get the little bird to clutch on my finger and put it back in the little nest with it's brother. Surprisingly though, this little bird didn't want to stay in the nest and he flew away, up into my apricot tree. By this time the mommy bird had come back and had fed the other little bird still in the nest. The mommy bird knew that there should be 2 babies in the nest, but there was only one, and so she flew all around looking for the other baby. The baby fell from the tree but was able to fly up and perch on my gate, and the mommy bird found him there and came right beside him to let him know that his mommy knew where he was. All this time, Tina and I had been watching the mommy bird trying to take care of her little babies. I couldn't see how the little bird was going to be able to fly back to the nest from the gate, or how the mommy could help him, so, I got him back on my finger, and put him up in his nest again. The mommy bird was sooooo happy to come back to her nest and find both her little babies there. Tina and I watched her feed them, and stay near them. It was a wonderful testimont to Heavenly Father's divine creation and the love that he gives to even the smallest of creatures here upon the Earth. Monday morning, I checked the nest but the little birds and the mommy had flown away, to start their lives somewhere elst. The one picture shows both of the little babies in the nest. Look carefully, you can see be the tiny black eyes. There is one at the back of the nest and the other is in the front, down by the branch. Ed dropped by today to visit and I took a picture of him holding the hummingbird nest, just so you could see how really tiny there are - they are such a miracle! I love you all and I wish a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all of the great and wonderful Mother's in the Ginn Family!

Just thought I would add a few pics from our little excursion to Barnegat Light. This light house is located on the tip of Long Beach Island which is about an hour from our house. We climbed to the top of the light house and had a great few of the entire island. Good thing Mom has strong arms because I carried John all the way to the top. The original Ron Jon surf shop is located on Long Beach Island. The kids had a great time seeing the world's largest surf board and checking out all the surf gear. Long Beach Island would remind everyone a little of San Clemente. I was homesick I must admit. The smell of the beach is not something I have experienced in quite a while. I am really going to try this summer to get down to LBI with the kids so that they can enjoy the beach.
Jocelyn, the other day I was talking to your mom and I said something about going to the food store. I stopped myself after I said it and realized that I had crossed over to the dark side. For those of you who haven't had the priviledge of living in New Jersey and experiencing the different language here, only people who are truly New Jersey say food store instead of grocery store. Oh well, I am embracing all things New Jersey these days.

Well, Patrice just told me that they stopped having the scouting program sponsored by the church here. So, I should probably start by asking the church! But I'd still love your advice.

Speaking of scouting, Marie, do you know if you can do BSA outside the US and what the requirements are? I would like to start it in our primary/YM. We have several boys between 10-13 that could benefit from scouting. I don't know if the branch would technically/legally be allowed to have a troop the way your wards can, but I'd like to look into it. I'm going to research the International Scouting program as well. I'm not too taken with the Luxembourg scouts. They tend to be rather lax about most things which means the badges aren't worth as much (in my opinion). When I saw you in your uniform, I thought I'd start by asking you!

Mom really enjoys working with boys. She loves her cubs and gets such great satisfaction from seeing them progress and learn new skills. This was her first day back after her illness. She works with annie douglas ben douglases wife. Lalo is a cub scout she picks up from the spanish branch. We love all your posts. Can't wait to see the paint you put in the other rooms Andy! And Cassy needs to put up her humming bird pictures. Bobby needs to get back on line so we can see what is going on at his new place. The last couple of days Guillaume has really been working on his tooth. Alienor finally pushed it our for him today, like Patrice did with hers. Didn't hurt him at all. Unfortunately, braces will be in Guillaume's future, as his new tooth was already starting to come in behind the tooth that was falling out. We'll need to move to the US for that because I don't know if orthodontistry has come to Luxembourg yet!! (It's here, just don't trust it yet!)

Thanks for posting that picture Marion. Guillaume saw it and asked if that was Alienor and Margot - because it didn't really look like them! I had to explain. I'll have to show it to Alienor and Margot too.

I was walking behind a lady yesterday at the grocery store and she had on a jacket (a wrap) that I thought Gramma would have liked. It reminded me of what I think of as her smoking jacket. It was silky/satiny, orangish/redish, buttons up the front, (don't know how to describe it)and she used to wear it when she sat on the balcony to smoke at night. Just wondered where that ended up. Does anyone have it? Don't throw it away!

The weather was nice and I got out this afternoon and planted lots of flower bulbs. It's always a gamble because I never know what will survive. Luckily here it's much more humid so I don't worry about watering as much. Plus, I'm not good about marking what I plant where so I forget what's growing by the time something does grow! It's called eclectic gardening!

Anyway, hope you all are doing well and having a nice springtime.

The pictures that everyone puts up are so great. I seriously need the recipe for those rolls Ninha because Jocelyn's mouth wasn't the only one watering. The pictures of the kids in the wigs were great Jocelyn. I thought everyone would like to see just how old those wigs really are. This is a picture of Bobby and I in 1976 wearing those very wigs. Somewhere I have a picture of Andy and Jocelyn in them too, but I couldn't find it. I feel like I look like Aunt Bertha in this picture. Could this be dramatic foreshadowing? John is giving me grey hair, but fortunately we haven't reached this stage yet. Have a great day everyone.

LOOK AT THESE BUNS!

(and I'm not just talking about the rolls!)

So, as you can see, these sets of photos have nothing to do with each other. I just like to throw everything in there all at once. Drew is about 85 - 90% potty trained at the moment, and we were looking for that something to get him to reach 100%. We found some cute briefs at Target. Even though they may look a tad too big, they seem to fit him just right. We don't want them to be TOO tight!

On another subject. We were thinking of Tia Marie and Ninha decided to make some of her famous rolls. Since we don't have her coming over for Thanksgiving and Christmas anymore, we need to get our fix somehow. Don't they look delicious? You bet they were, and still are. If anyone wants to come over and have a few, they'll be warmed with butter and waiting!

Sunday afternoon we were sorting boxes and found a dress-up box that hadn't been opened since our move here. Here are a few pictures. Marion, do you recognize anything?! These pictures are for you :)

Saturday we went to visit Patrice's grandparents who live in St. Die, about 2 hours away. It is technically his step father's parents but they are the only grandparents he really knew. They are very nice and we had a nice visit.
We left in the afternoon and on the way home we stopped by our friends' house in Luneville. Emanuel grew up with Patrice (from church) and married Maria who he met while serving a mission in Ireland. They are awesome. They have 6 kids and just found out she's expecting her 7th. As it turned out, it happened to be Maria's birthday so we ended up staying for dinner. Maria's amazing and it's hard to believe that she's 90% blind (thus the red-eye in the night pictures). She has some peripheral vision so she's very able and you can't even tell she's blind. Plus she's a singer (represented Ireland in the EuroVision in 85). She sang at Alienor's baptism. Anyway, they have a very cool family and we love visiting with them.
