My summer picture and story:
Almost every year for the last twenty-five years or so the Ginn's and Holst's have spent the Labor Day weekend in Del Mar. We used to spend it with young children playing in the pool at the beach or going to the races. Now we mostly take walks and sit around and read and there are no children with their happy noise to bother us - kinda dull-. Here we are all together Ed, Marie, Ron and Shan leaving the front of the condo and going for a walk toward the beach.

AWWWWWWW EWWWWWWW sorry we can't be there in person Cindi!. I'll try to get a summer pic on the blog this weekend. Love to see more of Marion's kids.It is your fault Marion the pictures you posted just wet my appetite for more. Nice to see Jocy's kids wish somehow we could get Nathan to post some of his family.

HI ALL!! Here's the Normand Clan's entry for the photo contest. It was taken during a vacation to Savannah, Georgia this past summer. The gang went to dinner at a restaurant named the 'Crab Shack' on the Tybee Island just off the shore of Savannah. Obviously the meal was for more the just Shawnna, but the picture looks like it's a feast just made for little old Shawnna!

In July, I finally let Alienor get her ears pierced. It was a weird experience - for me!! - because the lady used a 'gun' of sorts but one that you have to manually push the pointed earring through the ear. After the first ear I realized it wasn't an automatic gun and the thought of it turned my stomach but everything worked out for the best actually because Alienor didn't feel a thing. And I thought she'd be crying! The lady said the kids cry when she uses the automatic gun but not when she uses the manual one. Go figure.
I know I'm a bit of a pack rat when it comes to craft supplies and sometimes I wish I could throw it all away but I'm always so happy when I have just what I need for some project. Alienor wanted to make earrings so we got out my shoebox full of Gramma's jewelry making supplies and went through them. (Can I tell you how much I LOVE all of those little square plastic boxes!!) Most of the things are better suited to charm bracelets, broaches, etc. but Alienor came up with these earrings and I think they turned out well. She was excited to have something 'dangly' for Sunday. I love putting Gramma's things to good use.

So like always, once you get me going you can't shut me up! I've been meaning to write for months but just never do - and now that I'm here I might as well keep going!

I was wondering where all of my recent pictures were and I finally found them - in the camera!! These are from the spring, early May. These were taken behind the old town hall which is now where they teach music classes. The building is just at the top of the hill and around the corner (like 10 houses away but still on our side of the street.) I believe that the middle clump of trees above Alienor's head is from the far end of our back yard, our house being far down the field behind her on the left.

I had seen the daisies on one of my many trips with a child to a music class and decided that I'd have to take some pictures. Apparently it must have been during Margot's music class because she didn't get in any pictures!

I can't find any cool pictures. I'm just not a photographer. But I thought these were cute of Guillaume wearing Alienor's swimming goggles to cut onions last year.

Here's a picture from a long time ago, July 2006 to be exact, but I liked the shot of the kids. It's in a field at the bottom of the hill. When we go for walks the kids always like to climb the 'hay balls', as we call them. Of course I try to keep them off of them because I'd hate to have the farmer show up while they're playing in his field. I don't think it would be very acceptable around here. As a matter of fact, after the kids got off the hay ball and we kept walking, not 5 minutes later the farmer showed up with the tractor and trailer to haul the balls away. We lucked out!
This shot I just had to post because there's actually a BLUE sky with CLOUDS!!! It's so rare to see the sky here, let alone blue with individual clouds. It's normally a blanket of gray.

"Air Guitar"

This is me, rocking out at Lake Powell this summer. I believe we were listening to Guns N' Roses real loud. I was with Bobby, Tristan,a friend of Tristans, Chris Hillman and a friend of Chris's. This was the beginning of falling in love with a new hobby! I became addicted to boating this summer, I am already excited for next summer! Picture taken by Tristan Webb.

Story: Grace really loves to swing on the swingset in our backyard. The other kids will swing on either side of her and try to give her high fives as they swing past each other. The boys swing really high and make a lot of noise and Grace laughs and has a really good time.

Ok - this is kind of fun.

Story: This summer Grace experienced the water at the beach and at the pool for the first time. She loved every minute of it. I wish this was a panorama shot because across the pool Spencer was on top of Abby's shoulders having a battle with some friends of ours.

Well, I´ve done my two entries (of course I don´t know how many entries I can put in the contest). I hope the rest of you get into the spirit of "competition" and we get lots of entries. Love you all.

Story: This picture was taken in 2005 while David and I were visiting. This morning we were playing with the Nathan Ginn kids and I got to see the "theatrical" side of Alexa. She loved dressing up and pretending to be different people. Here I think she just thought the glasses were funny!

Title: Best Buds
Story: This picture doesn´t really have to be in the contest. I just found it while I was looking for pictures and really liked it. The picture was taken on our trip to France a few years ago. I think it shows how much fun my daddy and I have together!!

Photo Contest

Title: See David Jump
Story: The second day of Girls Camp we had a jump rope contest, and for those of you that know David ANYTHING that has the word "contest" in it gets him excited. After about 20 minutes of this jump rope game it came down to three people, David, a 20 year old YW leader and a 14 year old girl. The "gentlemanly" thing to do would let one of the girls win...but that wouldn´t even enter into Davis mind!! So, sweating up a storm he held out to the end and WON the contest. Now, you would also think that beating two girls wouldn´t be that exciting, but for David winning anything is exciting....He loves to be "the best"!!!
I do have to say that the girls had a good time competing with him and he made the games we played more fun because of his excitment and his love for competition.
