Colorado Happenings Summer 2010

All the Girls on the front porch at home.
New Slide attached to playhouse.

mmmm, peaches!

mmmm! Gala Apples.

2010 has been nice for Nathan and Brandi Ginn and kids. We started off with a trip to California to visit Grandma and Grandpa. Also, trips to Disneyland, California Adventure, and Sea World were fun too. Also, a couple of stops by the beach/coast. In Spring, we took a trip to Utah, for Tutu's Birthday and Easter. We visited Bob's family and all the girls had Gina do their hair. Most of the summer has been spent fixing up the backyard. Particularly, a retaining wall along last years concrete patio addition. The 3 smaller garden beds were converted into 1 big gardenbed with a redwood frame. For the kids, after 3 years, we finally got a slide for the playhouse. this took some reworking of the balcony banister (totally redone) to support the slide. As of today, it is just about finished. A few trial runs have been accomplished, but some additional support is needed for full use. We took a second trip to Utah for the 4th of July. This may become tradition. Utah has such fun activites and parades for the 4th. This year Nate drove Chris Hillmans truck in the Clearfield City parade. Chris is the city Manager and is required by the Mayor to attend, personally, I think he LOVES it! The girls got lots of taffy and candy to take home. Later, there was a neighborhood parade, picnic at the park, and swimming at the pool. We stayed an extra few days. Nate made the time productive by getting his E license for coaching soccer. It was nice to spend so much time with Jeff. The course was up in Logan where Jeff is the technical director of Infinity Soccer Club. I have also included some pictures of our fruit trees which are both going crazy this year. Brinley has been playing a lot of soccer this summer, Coerver Camp, 4 v 4, and some training and scrimmaging with uncle Jeff's team. We made another visit down to Bob for more haircuts and cousin time.

Hi All,

This week we have a small (we really don't know what size) leak in the slab by moms bathroom.
working with plumbers and insurance people and dry out people is a pain. Who do you trust?
Mom and I handle these situations so well together! I am such a patsy that I make all kinds of wrong calls and appointments and don't get phone numbers or any of the important things I am supposed to get. Yuk I am glad that my kids all do better in this area than I do. Hope this doesn't cost an arm and a leg or more. Say a prayer for us.
Hope all is well in your lives.

Dear Family,
Can't sleep these days! I lay in bed and think about my kids and tears fill my eyes. Both the good times and the tough times come flooding back. The way things are today and the way things were in the past. I missed a lot of moments to bless your lives and I enjoyed many moments when you blessed mine. The mind is great capturer of memories like a video camera but the flashes are only momentary. Like when Jeff stood on a platform overlooking Angle stadium and received a special award during 1987 Scout-o-rama or that same summer when he and Cindi played marco polo and I threw them in the air in the pool down at Winners Circle resort. The next year they were too big and old for that stuff. Watching Nathan and Cindi in the Marching band at SCHS. Proud of the Louis Armstrong award for Nathan and sad that I made him miss a competition in San Diego that cost him a B instead of an A in band. Watching Cindi throw out girls at second base and seeing her miss a catch as goalie against the Gardner girls. Watching Bobby with his quick left foot in soccer and carrying too heavy a pack his first trip in the Sierras and doing a leaping spin to block a long ball kick early in a morning soccer game in Laguna Beach. Not giving enough fathers blessing or bearing my testimony often enough. Not reading the scriptures to you all hardly ever. Going to too many meetings and too many scout outings. Not worrying enough about your schooling. Not being close enough to Bobby and Nathan. Being proud of Jeff when he told me where to go during his eagle project. Hurting for him when he got glow stick juice in his eye at National Jamboree. Many more fleeting thoughts
keep me awake these nights. Along with worries about Nathan and his family especially how distant they are becoming and Bob and the tremendous stresses he has without a job but how lucky he is to have a loving wife that stands by him. and Jeff who is moving farther and farther away from those things that will make his life better. And Cindi alone and far far away with a neat husband but no friends to keep her happy and unalone and no kids to enjoy the great mother that she would or can be. These stories are not finished but as a father I smile I hurt I cry I laugh but most of all I pray that the Lord will bless my kids so I can move on feeling good about the fleeting moments we have had together. I close with my testimony that God lives, the church is true, the Book of Mormon proves that! It also proves Joseph was a prophet. I know that the men I have had personal contact with ie Hinkley, Mckay, Kimble, Benson, Monson are and were prophets. I also testify that staying close to activity in the church blesses lives even tho it does not guarantee freedom from hardships and trials. Funny thing Mom and I went to the temple together last Saturday and You know what! Satan knows these things too and look where he is!
Think I might be able to go to sleep now even tho my heart is melancholy.
Love you all more than these few words can express.

Viva Espana!!!!!!!!!!
Winners of
THE WORLD CUP 2010
1- Nile
over a good Dutch team.
The ballet was not as PRETTY as it is
usually when played by Espana but
only because the bruts from the
Netherlands kept interfering with the dance.
How disrespectful they were-
naughty naught!
But the Spaniards kept their focus on the ball
and finally penetrate the Dutch!
And it felt so good! Or at least that is the word on the streets
of Spain.
I think the Dutch felt it was a little anal
and that is the word on the streets of the
Netherlands!
I am glad the Spanish team enjoyed the TuTuS
I sent them and since they won I think I
will let them keep them.

Brinley visits Uncle Jeff and Infinity Soccer Club in Logan

Nate had the opportunity to take his USSF "E" license in Logan, UT while he has been in Utah this week. He brought Brinley to train with my u11 premier girls. Brinley was intimidated at first and then she got in and got going and did just fine.

The club does station work for the players once a week and in the next video Brinley is working on a passing station.

Later she was matched up against some of the players in a 1v1 match where they are to work on their moves and take each other on while trying to knock a stationary ball off of a cone. You will see that although Brinley may be a little immature for these girls she has the skills... maturity will happen in due time, the skills and confidence to try moves was impressive. here BOO is playing 1v1:

Brinley spent the next morning in a training session with these girls. It was very overwhelming for her as she was not yet comfortable with the company, or the demands. She may have walked away very frustrated, but watching her skills when she had the ball I was a proud uncle. Nathan and Brandi are doing a great job of putting her in clinics and camps that allow her to practice new and exciting skills.

I hope that today was not discouraging for Brinley as she has talent and attitude and will be a great soccer player when she matures and has the ability to showcase her skills at her own level. I love that little one tons... she will be just fine if we allow her to "just play" more often with the neighborhood kids. Her skills are there and she has plenty of athleticism to evolve in to a special little soccer player.
