something to blog!!

Since we´re all kind of slacking in the blogging area I thought I would blog my attempt at growing flowers!!

About two weeks ago my mother-in-law gave me these little pots that had soil and a bag of seeds. I planted the seeds and have tried to keep them watered (which is not easy for me, for some reason). So here they are after two weeks.
From left to right: Viola, Impatient´s and Coleus.
This is the Viola...can you see the little tiny sprout??
This is the coleus...it´s growing too.

The viola has yet to show itself!! Or maybe I´ve already killed it off?!?!!?
I´ll be posting progress reports.

Please post blogs so this isn´t the only thing on here!!! hugs.
ps. i posted something on my blog today too!!

This is just a note to let everyone know that I passed my general ham operaters liscence last nightwhich means that I can use more frequencies and if I ever get a radio that works those frequencies I will be able to work call from all over the world. I think this hobby is going to be great for me.
As they say in ham lingo at closing -

thanks for the blogs dad they´re great!!! of course i would love a picture of you with your radio stuff!!
mom always does a good job and never gets enough kudos...oh and yes, is always in control!!
i´m sure your talk was great and that you got through to people. you´re amazing...i don´t tell you that enough!!

This is called a cubical quad ( four wire squares going from big to small) you twist it around with the small element pointing in the direction of the best signal and all of the power of your signal goes out in that one direction with about 3 times the concentrated strength. He gave it to me for free. Also you can see the slim jim I made leaning against the window. I am having fun
Other ham stuff to follow.

This is Virginia's marble table covered with radio, log book and leads to antennas
It is very hard to see but attached to the second stand pipe to the left of the chiminey is my base antenna. It is about four feet high. It is the best one.
This is called a slim jim that I made a couple of weeks ago our of copper pipe. It works well but I don't think I going to be able to get it outside because of the home owners.

This was the first outside antenna I had up. It is a mag mount for use on a car but it did great mounted on the upsidown serving tray. I was able to get from catalina to malibu to San Bernidino to escondido which is very good and lots of fun. The final antenna I was given by a guy I contacted on the Catalina repeater that just live up on La Novia. It is my special one.

I survived the tomatoes carrot cake and rotten eggs that were thrown at me during my talk!
Amazing how angry and bitter the Saints become when they are called to repentance. NO-
the talk got a lot of compliments. Thanks for all your help.
Now, here are my antennas and radio in my radio shak as they call them (actually the boys
bedroom upstairs)

Here is more. I love how Marie stands off to the side being quiet
but oh so very much in control

Your mom works so hard and for so many hours putting these pack meetings together!
It was nice to see how well this blue and gold dinner went off. She was most pleased that it started on time and ended on time so the parents had nothing to complain about. In fact she go a lot of kudos all of which she deserved.

projects

These are a few of my other projects I´ve been doing around the house.

It all started with this mirror my sister-in-law gave me for Christmas...
One morning, before work, I decided I needed to paint the entrance (where the mirror hangs) so that it would stand out more, so I got out some paint we had and started mixing to get a color I liked and started painting.

This picture is for dad...
The family picture hangs above the TV where I can see it all the time!!

This is my cheap headboard. Some day I would like to put wood around the painted area (kind of like a fireplace mantle), but for now this will have to do. As you can see I also painted the nightstands and I bought some black-transparent-curtains.
I have lots of ideas to "finish" this room, but right now there ain´t no "money money" so it will just have to wait.
I also painted one of the walls in the office. I´ve been busy!!
When we moved in this is what the spare room looked like. And just so you know...the mattress is on top of a bunch of boxes!!
After about 8 months of ugly spare room, I decided it needed to be, at the very least, usable. So I pealed off the border, painted over the ugly redish and yellowish with paint we had here and went to Ikea for some basics. It was good enough to get by for a while, but I knew it wouldn´t last!
Finally, this past month I have been painting different rooms in the house and got obsessed with "home improvements" .... and my mom told me that if they came over to visit they would have to be able to walk on both sides of the bed (as you can see above the bed is up against the wall)... so I decided to change the room completely.
The only thing that really frustrates me is that because the room looks small and simple now, it looks like it was easy to do..... and it wasn´t!
Who knows if I´ll get sick of this "decor" too ( or if a kid will ever come?!), but at least I think that with each make-over the room has gotten better!!

So, now that my guest room is pretty and usable and there´s even space in the closet, all I need now is............... a guest or two!!!!

Madrid v. Barcelona

Last night was the superclásico between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona...
A very serious David watching the game.

David does push-ups to release some of the tension of the game!! He´s weird!
Thankfully the best team in the world proved themselves and beat Madrid 0-2.
Força Barça!!!

for jeff and bobby... Crisitano Ronaldo is a poor sport and he whines and cries too much when he doesn´t get his way. And Messi is amazing, but Xavi makes the magic happen!!
