Saturday the 22 of Sept. 07 the Holsts joined us on a trip to San Diego to watch the Red Bull Air Races. The planes were small going about 265 mph about 50 feet above the water. It was a timed course and each pilot was required to twist and turn between the pylons. One turn caused the pilot to pull about 9 g's. So a 150 lb. pilot making that turn would feel like he weighed 1350 lbs..
As a side note the races started at 2 pm so we left at 1 pm--- plenty of time to get to San Diego---NOT!!! It took us 2.5 hrs. the freeway was very creepy crawly to say the least.
